Time Lapse Video Of Sunset Over The Irish Sea From Deganwy, North Wales #34

The story behind this video

Early May on the north Wales coast, and now the evenings are getting lighter my wife Liz and I can enjoy a post-teatime drive to watch a sunset over the sea.

There are many beautiful locations along the coast to enjoy this spectacle, and one of our favourites is the promenade at Deganwy, on the banks of the river Conwy estuary as it flows out into the Irish Sea.

However, in this part of the world it's very rare that you get a 'clean' sunset.

Normally there's a band of cloud along the horizon, which can either kill or enhance the sunset, depending on how thick the cloud is and how far above the horizon the band of cloud extends.

And on this particular evening, with reasonable breaks in the cloud allowing glimpses of the sun as it descended towards the horizon, I reckoned it was game on for a colourful experience, well worth getting the camera out to record as a time lapse video.

And I'm glad I did, as the setting sun put on a lovely display of light and colour through the clouds before finally disappearing into the Irish Sea.

And even after sunset the show continued, with those low lying broken clouds still catching the warm light from the sun, even after it had dropped below the horizon.

Just wonderful, and typical of a north Wales sunset experience!
