A drive around the Lake District in Cumbria, England, was put on hold for half an hour or so, as my wife Liz and I stopped for a picnic by Crummock Water.
We found a comfortable river bank to sit on, next to this delightful little waterfall, flowing quite vigorously after a few days' rain.
With a solid overcast it was an ideal opportunity to capture a time lapse sequence of the flowing water, as the dull skies kept the light levels reflecting from the cascade at reasonable levels.
So while we ate our picnic my camera clicked away, capturing the few hundred still images needed for just a few seconds of time lapse video.
I wanted to smooth out the flow down the waterfall somewhat, so I used a small F/22 aperture and a polarising filter to slow the shutter speed to the point where the foaming water was just blurring a little.
A short while later and we were back on our way, fed, watered, creatively satisfied and ready to explore yet more of the Lake District's beautiful scenery.
