Sunset over Conwy Estuary

The story behind this video

Making timelapse videos around North Wales beauty spots is becoming a real passion of mine, there's just so much to go at it's hard to know where to shoot next.

However, this particular view up the Conway Estuary at sunset was a definate no-brainer, as I have had numerous still photography sessions here and could easily visualise just how nice a timelapse sequence would look.

Time of year is all important at this location, as the estuary mouth is to the northwest and so the sun will set here only in the height of summer.

So there I was on the bridge over the river Conway, camera on tripod and clicking away every five seconds as the sun was going down, when I was joined by an older chap with a camera bag and tripod who set up next to me and proceeded to take photos of the same scene.

We got chatting as you do, and I found out he was a mine of useful local information, with some great tips about locations I'd never heard of, or wanted to get to but didn't know how.

We spent half an hour or so comparing notes and parted amicably shortly after sunset as there were no clouds worth talking about to catch any remaining twilight.

What a treat. I find this happens quite often, especially if I'm using a tripod as other photographers seem to home in on a tripod like a sparrow to a bird feeder.

Do you find the same? Please let me know if you've got any similar stories and I might copy your experiences on my home page blog.

Anyhow, when I got round to processing the video I was delighted with the outcome, and I've got a few more locations to check out now as well, thanks to my new friend from Conway.
