Up to the end of July, when I shot the stills for this time lapse sequence, the summer of 2015 in the UK had been particulary unstable weather-wise.
With low pressure systems rolling in off the Atlantic, the west coast of the UK, including North Wales where I live had been subjected to seemingly unending bouts of cloud, wind and rain, with occasional sunny spells thrown in for good measure.
Not so good if you're wanting a day's sunbathing, but great if, like me, you soon get bored of looking at clear blue skies and want to photograph with something interesting going on overhead.
So it was that my wife Liz and I, suitably wrapped up, found ourselves on Llandudno's West Shore looking out over the mouth of the Conwy Estuary to the headlands of Penmaenmawr and Llanfairfechan as a fantastic series of lenticular wave clouds swirled over the hills, catching the last few rays of the sun as it set behind us out over the Irish Sea.
After an hour or so, once all sunlight had disappeared we packed up and drove home, chilled but amazed at the show we'd just witnessed.
