Surely one of the most beautiful places in the world - when it's not raining that is!
This is the Isle of Anglesey, just off the North Wales coast, and a superb location for coastal photography.
Obviously, if you want to catch a sunset then the west coast is the place to be, and with so many cliffs, beaches, sea arches, fishing villages and so on to choose from it's hard to know where to go.
On this particular evening, with a new moon resulting in an 8 metre plus tidal range, I was mostly interested in capturing a time lapse of the sea rushing up a beach, although a nice sunset to go with that would be a bonus.
One of my favourite beaches to watch the tide come in on is Church Bay (or Porth Swtan in welsh).
Church Bay is far from being just a flat expanse of sand, as at low tide there is a fascinating array of exposed rocks and tidal pools to explore.
My wife Liz and I arrived there about an hour before sunset, on a rising tide that had just turned and was starting to make its way back up the beach, swirling around rocks and filling in pools as the waters rose.
An ideal scenario for me to shoot this time lapse sequence.
The only potential problem I had was filming into the setting sun, but even there the weather played ball, with layers of light cloud taking the edge off the sun's brightness to the point where I could use a 3 stop neutral density graduated filter to darken the sky and still retain detail in the rocks around which the sea was rising.
In the end we were treated to a glorious colourful sunset as well as the interest of the incoming tide, which I had to film in three episodes as the sea forced me backwards though the rocks to the sand beyond.
Needless to say, Liz and I drove back home happy bunnies, having been immersed in such beauty.
