The west facing coast of Ceredigion in mid-Wales is a fantastic place to spend a summer's evening, watching as the sun sinks slowly over the Irish Sea before finally disapperaring over the horizon to mark the end of another day.
My wife Liz and I were spending a couple of days exploring the region during July 2021, and almost the first thing we did on arrival was to head to a local bookshop and buy an Ordinance Survey map of the area.
Our good old road atlas, plus satnav, is dead handy for showing us the big picture, but if you want to find those hidden gems that make exploring so rewarding, you need a decent map.
So as we pored over the map, looking for the less well known places to visit, my eye was drawn to the coast, with its numerous little bays and beaches that our large scale road map didn't show.
One such beach, facing to the northwest and so ideal for a sunset, was the expansive Llanrhystud, just down the coast aways from the seaside of Aberystwyth, so we headed there to watch and film the sunset.
And we weren't disappointed as we spent a couple of hours in this quiet and beautiful place, listening to the sounds of the sea and watching as the sun passed in and out of light bands of cloud until sunset.
I love watching God's wisdom in action!
