A lovely sunny afternoon in May 2018 and my wife Liz and I were out and about exploring some of our favorite places around the coast of Anglesey, North Wales.
As the time for sunset approached I started thinking about where would be a good spot to watch and photograph the event from.
With the sun setting to the northwest I reckoned that the north coast of the island should be the place to be, and with the help of my very handy Photographer's Ephemeris app I narrowed down my location search to Cemaes Bay, a lovely little harbour town, where the sun would be setting between the two headlands either side of the harbour.
We arrived on-site about an hour before sunset, and following an enjoyable walk along the promenade I set up my camera and tripod on the harbour wall to catch the action.
The beach at low tide looked great, with glowing stripes of wet sand reflecting the light from above, but what pleased me most was the arrangement of moored yachts out in the mouth of the bay, as just the right spot to have the sun sinking down over their silhouetted masts.
In the end, the sun never made it as far as the horizon, setting insead into a bank of cloud that coloured up beautifully before the daylight faded into twilight.
And so we made our leisurely way back home, having had our minds and souls refreshed, immersed in the beauty of God's creation.
