The arrival of British Summer Time (BST) in late March sort of marks the start of the evening photography season for me, with sunset happening at the user friendly time of around 8pm in early April at my latitude of 53 degrees north here in North Wales.
So I decided to take advantage of the timely dusk to drive over to Caernarfon on the coast and photograph the stills for this time lapse video showing day turning to night while the lights on the famous castle came on.
The evening of my choosing was quite frisky weatherwise, with a blustery wind and increasing cloud, heralding the arrival of a cold front from the west.
Shooting for just over an hour, either side of sunset, proved challenging as a couple of passing rain showers had me trying to fit a shower cap over the camera without moving it, but in the end I managed OK.
I was glad of the stormy weather from an artistic point of view, as the final video would have been much less dynamic without the clouds.
