Late summer and the trees of the Gwydyr forest in the Snowdonia (now called Eryri) National Park are just getting the first hint of their autumnal colours.
My wife Liz and I were driving one of our favourite routes through the park, along the old coaching route of the A5 as it winds through some stunning landscapes from the village of Pentrefoelas to the tourist hotspot of Betws-y-Coed.
But just before you reach Betws-y-Coed there's a layby at the side of the road that gives this amazing view out over the hills and valleys of the Gwydyr Forest to the peak of Moel Siabod in the background.
This being North Wales, there's usually some active weather on show (sometimes too active!), and on this particular afternoon broken clouds were streaming towards us, borne on a stiffish breeze and casting wonderful moving patches of sunlight and shadow on the undulating landscape below.
Well, this is meat and drink to an outdoor photographer, so I soon had my camera set up and clicking away for twenty minutes or so to capture the hundreds of still images needed to create just a few seconds' worth of time lapse video.
Well worth a pause in our drive to stop, breathe the air and immerse ourselves in the beauty of God's creation.
