Just across the bay from Youghal, on the southwest Atlantic coast of County Cork, Ireland, lies the wonderfully named Knockadoon Point and Capel Island.
So naturally enough my wife Liz and I decided to take a trip out to the tip of Knockadoon during our week long stay at Youghal.
What we found was a small stretch of coast, including a run down and decaying small harbour, with a lovely air of genteel abandonment.
We didn't stay long, but during our brief walk around I spotted this crumbling concrete jetty, pointing off into the ocean, which, to my mind, summed up the 'coast that time forgot' ambiance.
