The story behind this image

Love 'em or loathe 'em, offshore wind turbines now form an integral part of the view when looking out to sea from along the North Wales coastal strip.

Personally I love 'em; more for their dramatic and photogenic appearance rather than their ability to generate electricity. (Welcome though that is.)

Given some dramatic lighting, such as a beam of sunlight illuminating just a few of the myriad turbines against a dark cloudy background, and I'm seen feverishly assembling camera, lens, tripod and other bits and bobs to photograph the moment.

More often than not the lighting will have changed by the time I'm set up, but on this occasion i struck gold, with just three of the turbines glowing white against the gloom.

A few exposures was all I could manage before the shaft of light moved on and the world though my viewfinder returned to grey.

This image was the best of the bunch, with the placement of the turbine blades just so, not clashing with the masts.
