Colwyn Bay, on the North Wales coast, has become an area of intense wind power activity with literally dozens of offshore turbines dotting the horizon.
Opinion as to their effectivness or desireability is mixed to say the least, but with my photographer's hat on I find I really like them. A photograph such as this one, taken from the beach at Llandulas, wouldn't be nearly as meaningful without the stark shapes of the blades cutting across the horizon.
I've photographed these turbines in all sorts of weather conditions, and I really like the brooding menace portrayed in this particular image. It feels like there's a looming disaster coming closer and closer, about to engulf man's fragile efforts to tame nature.
