The Snowdonia National Park is an outdoor photographer's playground, with so many beautiful and varied scenes all within easy driving distance.
Included in the list of things to admire and capture on silicon are numerous (hundreds) of streams and waterfalls, tumbling over the rocky landscape.
This mini-scene is typical of what's on offer, with an esily accessible stream running over boulders by the side of the path.
The path in question is the trail that leads up from Llyn Ogwen to the higher waters of Llyn Idwal at the base of the Glyderau range, passing by the runoff stream from that lake.
When photographing waterfalls I almost always use a long shutter speed to blur the moving water, as I like the contrast between the movement of the white water in the stream and the static rocks through which the rushing water passes.
On this occasion I acheived a long shutter speed by using a 6 stop neutral density filter, adjusting the exposure time until I achieved the degree of softening I wanted for this composition.
