We're not in Snowdonia this time.
This waterfall is part of a larger set of falls called Aira Force, and it's near Ullswater in the Lake District in the north of England.
My wife Liz and I were taking a weekend break up there, doing a bit of walking and generally chilling out, and of course I had my camera with me!
It was autumn and the colours in the Lake District are amazing at this time of year. However, I decided to convert this particular image to black and white as there wern't any vibrant autumn colours in this shot, which is more about tones and texture than colour. Indeed, I found the small amount of colour in this particular scene to be dingy and distracting so I removed it, resulting in a much more pleasing and easy to understand image.
If something isn't adding to a scene then it's actually detracting from it, and should be removed.

Comments - Slow shutter speed used to blur water. Tripod, mirror lockup and cable release used to prevent camera movement.
