Venice canal #2

Small canal flanked by decaying buildings, Venice, Italy

The story behind this image

Venice can be a very un-accomodating place when you're in need of a wee and trying to find a public loo.

To add insult to injury, once you've found one you have to pay an extortionate €1.50 to get in! Outrageous!

Which is why Liz and I found ourselves in the back streets and canals of Venice in search of the only MacDonald's in the city.

Well, if you've got to pay to go to the loo you might as well buy a coffee and use a free loo at the same time.

MacDonald's proved hard to find (don't worry - we found it in time and the coffee was excellent) but on the way we passed by some wonderfully seedy back canals such as this one somewhere to the north of the Grand Canal.

The colours and textures in the crumbling brickwork proved irresitable, and wee or no I had to stop to get some photos.

Liz wasn't too impressed though!
