A rare sunny morning after snow had fallen overnight was all the excuse I needed to get out and up onto the slopes of Moel Famau, my local hill.
The view out over the Vale of Clwyd to the west was stunning in the clear, cold air, with all the fields, trees, buildings and so on of the farmland below picked out in crisp detail.
This was one of those occasions where the use of Fuji Velvia transparency film made sense.
With relatively even brightness between the sky and land, thanks to the snow, the narrow dynamic range of the film wasn't exceeded, while the very fine grain and great colour rendition made a good job of capturing all that fine detail in the fields below me.
All in all, a beautiful morning that I was glad to be able to capture on film.
