One of the discoveries that my wife Liz and I made this summer (2018) was the delightful countryside around Trefriw, just inside the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales.
Previously we have driven through Trefriw without stopping, on our way to the beautiful Llyn Crafnant, high in the hills above the town.
But this summer we decided to stop and have a look around the Trefriw Woollen Mill, a fascinating estabishment with its own hydroelectric powerplant on site.
Having looked around the mill, we then had a look around the centre of town, only to find an inforation board detailing a multitude of waymarked paths looping through the surrounding countryside.
We just couldn't resist, and set off along one of the river walks, which took us along this lovely shaded path, lined with tress in early summer foliage and with the fragrance of wild garlic wafting aound us.
A hiden gem of a place, and we'll certainly be stopping in Trefriw again, to try out another of those walks.
