A chilly but clear spring day, and where better to be but in the mountains of Snowdonia, breathing the clean fresh air and watching the sunlight sparkle on the newly emgered leaves in the ancient woodlands that adorn this part of Wales.
Of course, a walk in the woods is de rigeur under these conditions, so Liz and I chose the path opposite the Moel Siabod cafe in Capel Curig for our ramble.
The old woodlands along the banks of the Afon Llugwy were just lovely, with patches of sun and shadow painting the knarly old trees and moss covered rocks in a tapestry of living light.
Of course, I took plenty of photos alog the way, with this one, to my mind, best expressing the beauty of the woodlands, combining light and dark, old and new, colours and greys in an evocative pastiche.
Back home in post processing I brought out the ethereal feel of that day in the woods by applying a light 'Orton' effect to the image in Photoshop, adding an imperceptible glow and softening to the highlights.
