We're back in North Wales in the depth of the coldest, snowiest winter we've had for ages. Still for the photographer the changing seasons bring a constant inspiration as the earth turns on its axis and the weather and light changes along with it.
This shot was taken in the woods at our local country park. I'd just finished taking the money shots of views towards the Clwydian mountains, covered in snow and catching the last light of day and I was walking back along the path to the car when I started to notice the contrast between the dark tree trunks and white snowy background.
I always like to take blurs shots of suitable subjects, such as tree trunks, as I think that such blurring of reality allows us to catch more of the atmosphere of a place than a straight shot can sometimes portray.
Such was the case here, with the quietness and subdued ambiance of the dormant wood coming over better in the blurry image.
