Enjoying a short Autumn break in Staffordshire, my wife Liz and I decided to spend an afternoon at Barton Marina, a giant narrow boat mooring basin and canalside development at Barton-under-Needwood.
Part of the development is given over as a nature reserve, with lakes and woodlands to walk through.
It was on walking through the nature reserve that we came across a grove of young silver birch trees, with their pale autumn leaves shining in the sun as a light breeze blew through the top branches making a lovely sussuration.
Although I couldn't record the sound in a still image, I thought a picture of the leaves with just a slight movement blur would help to convey the mood on that lovely autumn afternoon.
A polarising filter and a deal of post processing in Lightroom and Photoshop helped the light leaves stand out against the vivid blue of the sky.
