I wasn't hoping for much as my wife Liz and I parked up at Trearddur Bay on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey to try and catch the sunset.
Heavy clouds had covered the sky all afternoon, so I thought my chances of seeing and photographing spectacular lighting over the coast were slim.
But even so, I set up my camera and tripod overlooking a handily placed island and started shooting the hundreds of frames needed to make my Trearddur Bay Time Lapse #2 video.
Was I in for a suprise!
Either side of sunset the clouds broke up, resulting in an incredible show of light and colour in the skies above, which then reflected in the relatively calm waters below.
I ended up filming for a lot longer than anticipated, as the colours in the cloud just kep on getting richer and richer as the sun sank lower below the horizon.
We finally called it a night once the colours finally started to fade, elated at having seen such unexpected beauty.
That's one of the joys of outdoor photography, especially in North Wales, as you never know what you're going to see.
