The southwest Atlantic coast of Ireland is full of interesting little nooks and crannies, which my wife Liz and I spent a happy week exploring in the spring of 2017.
Towards the end of our stay, on a day with a reasonable(ish) weather forecast, we decided to strike out westwards to the wonderfully named Roaring Water Bay, and then head back along the meandering coastline to our holiday cottage in Youghal.
This proved to have been a great idea, and we saw some lovely scenery on the drive back eastwards.
Getting on for teatime we started looking for somewhere to stop for a picnic, eventually parking up on the banks of a small inlet by the village of Timoleague in County Cork.
Across the short stretch of water was this very nicely shaped area of woodland, of an ideal shape for a panoramic image and with nesting egrets in the branches, which you can just make out on the larger version of the photo.
So while Liz prepared the sandwiches I set up my camera and tripod and took the several overlapping frames of the woods and sea required for later stitching in Adobe Lightroom.
Just a lovely spot to enjoy a break and a bite to eat, and while we we parked up I noticed a roadsign for the next hamlet along, Courtmacsherry, described as a small drinking village with a fishing problem!
Typical gentle Irish humour.
