'On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair....'
OK, so I'm not in California, but the same air of mystery prevails as I gaze along the TF-21 highway as it passes through the amazing Teide National Park towards its vanishing point amongst the volcanic crater walls of Mount Teide.
There's something very enigmatic about a long, straight highway disappearing off into the distance that evokes strong emotions in me, and I've photographed them wherever I can.
Sort of a 'road less travelled' experience.
But there was nothing prosaic about the actual taking of this photo, waiting for a gap in the traffic with my wife Liz watching out behind while I dashed into the middle of the road for a few seconds to grab a couple of frames.
But that's a secondary consideration, compared with the feelings of empty wistfullness that just looking at this image still brings to the fore in my mind.
