A visit to Tenerife in the Canary Islands just isn't complete without a visit to the capital city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, to ogle at the amazing and visually stunning seafront auditorium, designed by architect Santiago Calatrava.
But even though this was the third time my wife Liz and I had spent a winter break on Tenerife, it was only the first time we'd done more than just driven through Santa Cruz.
Parking opposite the lovely waterpark on the shores of the Atlantic ocean, we walked though gardens and past sculptures with the massive hooked bill of the auditorium growing ever larger, dominating the surrounding views.
It was shortly before sunset when we arrived, with the creamy white structure glowing against a deep blue sky in the warm sunlight.
A memorable sight that provoked a photographic feeding frenzy, including this stitched panoramic collage showing the entire sweep of the structure in all its glory.
