One of the most popular beaches on Tenerife is Las Teresitas, just to the northeast of the captial city of Santa Cruz.
Built from 1000s of tons of imported Sahara sand and protected by huge breakwaters to prevent erosion, the beach throngs with both locals and tourists during the summer.
Not being beach people, nevertheless my wife Liz and I decided to have a look at it on our way to explore the Agana Massif to the east of Tenerife during our February winter sun break.
I have to say that we weren't impressed by the view from sea level, and only stayed for a few minutes stroll on the sand before getting back in our tiny hire car and heading up the steep winding road away from Las Teresitas.
High above the beach we stopped again at the Mirador Las Teresitas viewpoint, which gave us a much more pleasing vista, looking down on the beach from above.
I used my zoom lens to isolate this small section of the beach, with the simple arrangement of palm trees, beach, sea and breakwater giving a minimalist view of the salient features.
