Normally I'll try and avoid including people in my landscape photos, but sometimes the human element adds so much to a composition that I've just got to break out of my comfort zone and include them.
Such was the case for this image, taken from the cliffs at Los Gigantos on Tenerife in the Canary Islands and overlooking the neighbouring island of La Gomera.
My wife Liz and I were on a week long winter sun break, and as is our wont, we were driving around Tenerife in our little hire car, exploring the undeveloped parts of the island.
Pulling into a viewpoint to catch the view out over La Gomera we found this rather glamourous couple already there, with the same idea as us. (Note the camera in the young lady's hand!)
Backlit by the bright sun, the couple were perfectly positioned just to the side of La Gomera, with the sun overhead, and it was the work of a moment to snap a couple of frames before they moved off back to their car.
In this case a well worthwhile human addition to the image.
