Despite the vast amount of tourist resort developments along the south coast of Tenerife in the Canary Isalnds it's still possible to find the odd little seaside village that hasn't yet succumbed to the concrete.
During our week long stay on Tenerife in Janusry 2020 my wife Liz and I found just such a spot, La Caleta, just a half hour's stroll along the seaside promenade from the heavily developed Costa Adeje.
Build around a small bay formed of volcanic lava, La Caleta is a lovely collection of waterfront restaurants and low rise housing, with a quaint 'olde worlde' seaside ambiance that Liz and I really appreciated after the bustle and crowds at Costa Adeje.
This view shows the largest of those waterside restaurants, perched on a shelf of volcanic rock, as seen from the seaside promenade which encircles the bay.
