This is one of a series of images with the theme 'Paths of Light'.
'beach-pool-01' and 'beach-pool-02' are the others in this series.
All the photos were taken at Talacre, which is a beach and nature reserve on the North Wales coast and a favourite haunt of mine.
Talacre is on the North Wales coast and runs roughly east-west. This means that from spring through to Autumn you can watch the sun rise and set from the beach. This can give rise to some lovely lighting effects, as the low slanting light when the sun is low on the horizon will pick out any ripples or other features.
This was what attracted me to this scene, and I had to wait till the sun was right on the horizon before taking this picture to avoid excessive flare.
Everything in this composition acts to lead the eye along the 'Path of Light' to the source of all natural light, the sun itself.
