These are the iconic Three Sisters mountains (small hills really) set dramatically on a little peninsula of land jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean on Ireland's west coast.
It's a sobering thought to realise there's nothing but water between here and America, and it's all that water that gives this part of Ireland such changeable weather.
I and some of my family were staying in a cottage on holiday, just a five minute walk from where this photo was taken. So of course I took full photographic advantage of the beautiful scenery and fantastic light.
The fantastic light didn't last long however, and this was the only clear sunset during our week's stay so I'm glad I made the most of it. Ireland's weather is like that, you really appreciate the clear days becuase they're so rare!
This photo was taken, along with several hundred others, as part of a timelapse video of 'Sunset over the Three Sisters' which is well worth a watch as well. As I took all the shots in RAW format there was plenty of latitude in the data for the subsequent enhancement of individual files such as this one.
