I find the back streets of towns and cities to be much more interesting and visually stimulating than the tourist hotspots.
This is just such an occurence, in which Liz and I were wandering round the town of Funchal on Madeira, having stoopped off there for a day during a cruise we were enjoying.
The colours, shapes and placement of the statue and church were just too good to pass by without lining up a photo.
