This photo of the Plough was taken early one morning during one of my frequent walks up my local 'mini-mountain', Moel Famau, close by where I live in North Wales.
I really appreciate being out in the landscape before going to work, and I try and get out once or twice a week at least. However, in winter, that means going up and down in darkness.
Still, I find photographing at night to be very rewarding and technically challenging, and with a clear sky (rare!) the stars are especially beautiful.
On this occasion the Plough was nicely placed over a small copse of storm damaged trees, providing an interesting composition.
I enhanced the brightness of the stars in the Plough in Photoshop so they play a more dominant role in the image.
