Orion is my favourite constellation, It's so dramatic and angular and I will always try and include it in a composition if I can.
On this occasion it's very early in the morning in the middle of winter, with the dawn twilight just lighting the fresh snow with a wonderful blue glow.
I'm standing in the Clwydian range of mountains in North Wales, on the saddle between Moel Famau to the north and Foel Ffenli to the south. Stretched out before me is the vale of Clywd, with the market town of Ruthin nestled in the valley below, highlighted in the yellow glow of its streetlights.
Above all hangs the hunter, Orion, silent and brooding, soon to be banished by the coming dawn, but, for now, king of the skies.
