What do you do as an amateur landscape photographer in the winter, when the sun rises at 8 a.m. and you have to clock on at your place of work at 8 a.m.?
Well, you can either give up taking photos for 4 months a year, or do what I'm doing and learn to shoot in the dark!
Actually I really enjoy winter photography, especially when the weather forecast predicts frost and valley fog as was the case on the morning this photo was taken.
To get this shot I climbed Foel Ffenli in the dark, a peak in the Clwydian range of mountains near where I live, which got me above the fog and gave me a great view of the peak of Moel Famau to the north, surrounded by a sea of mist, with the lit up BBC transmitter mast providing a focal point in the far background.
A chilly, but very rewarding morning's work!
