Nothing says that spring is coming more than the arrival of the snowdrops.
These beautiful, delicately shaped flowers are a delight to look at close up, but photographing them can be a bit tricky, with the white petals prone to burning out at the least excuse, especially with an unforgiving film like Fuji Velvia.
So to take this photo I picked a flower and brought it inside to my kitchen where I could control the light a lot easier than outside, plus there's no wind inside - an important point for a long exposure when any movement of the flower would result in a blurred final image.
I find that the combination of sinuous shape and muted colour palette of the snowdrop is absolutely entrancing - I hope you enjoy the image too.
