Fallen beech leaves line the single track road to Llyn Crafnant with carpets of red gold, glowing in the diffuse afternoon sun as its rays filter through the trees of the Gwydyr Forest.
I was spending the day drinking in the autumn splendour of the Snowdonia National Park, driving to Llyn Crafnant for a walk around the lake, when I rounded a bend in the road to be faced with this explosion of colour.
Fortunately for me, there was a good sized layby conveniently placed for me to stop and take this photo, so I quickly plonked my tripod down in the middle of the carriageway and took a few various compositions of the view up the road before continuing on to Llyn Crafnant for yet another dose of North Wales beauty.
