When visiting a new place, Liz and I always make a point of walking round the back streets to see how things look away from the well manicured tourist areas.
So we spent a lovely couple of hours happily wandering the alleyways of Pont de L'arche, a Normandy town on the banks of the Seine, looking at the old buildings and soaking in the atmosphere.
Of course, I was also on the lookout for interesting subjects to photograph, being particularly drawn to signs of genteel decay that these old French country towns have in such abundance.
This old 'No Parking' sign caught my attention, with its weathered appearance set against an equally weathered wooden gate.
However, what clinched the deal for me, photographically speaking, was the recent addition of the 'Chien Bizarre' notice, which made me chuckle.
