The story behind this image

Lerwick, the capital of the Shetland islands situated to the north of Scotland, is primarily a maritime town, with a busy harbour and nautical paraphenalia everywhere you look.

Liz and I spent a very enjoyable day exploring Lerwick on the final leg of our cruise to Iceland and back on board the P&O liner Azura, anchored offshore as it was too big to fit into the port!

Arriving at the harbour by shuttle boat we were greeted by this lovely view of yachts moored against the sea wall, bobbing up and down in the calm waters which reflected the blue skies and white fluffy clouds above.

I'm not sure that the weather in the Shetland Islands, stuck out as they are in the north Atlantic Ocean, is always this kind(!), but on the day of our visit the sun shining down through the clean, crisp air really showed the town and harbour in all its beauty.
