Walking around the harbour at Lerwick, the capital of the Shetland Islands to the north of Scotland, on a thankfully lovely sunny day, my eyes were drawn to the bright yellow interior of this striking wooden rowing baot as it was moored up to the side of the jetty.
On a grand scale, the scene was quite messy, with lots of random boats and harbour furniture cluttering up the view, but with a careful bit of positioning and zooming I was able to capture this image, featuring just the detail of the single boat.
Set against dark green water, with glare removed by the full on use of a polarising filter, the yellow of the boat's interior really sings, and I was also glad of the two off-white bumpers that serve to break up the large area of darkness in the lower half of the composition.
