Strolling around the old harbour town of Lerwick, the capital of the Shetland Islands to the north of Scotland, was a real treat on the rare sunny day that Liz and I spent there as part of our P&O cruise to Iceland and back.
Lerwick was quite small enough to fully explore during our few hours there, and one of the prettiest views was out over this tiny beach looking from the elevated sea wall.
The combination of golden sand, azure seas, the old stone building and the Viking boat, all topped off with a dramatic sky was just too good to resist photographically speaking.
This is one of the views that encapsulate the charm of this most lovely of harbour towns.
Mind you, I bet the scene is very different in the midst of an Atlantic storm!
