It's been fifty years since I last visited Saundersfoot on the south facing coast of the Pembrokeshire National Park.
I spent a week there at a very young age, on holiday with my parents, and I can still remember some of the things we got up to, like playing on a lilo on the gently sloping beach and hiring a motor boat for a ride out into the bay.
Happy days!
So I was intrigued to see whether my childhood recollections were borne out in today's reality.
I got my chance in the autumn of 2016, as my wife Liz and I had a mini-break exploring some of the delights of the Pembrokeshire coast.
We had decided to make a day of it, with a fair weather forecast for Pembrokeshire's south coast, planning to visit Tenby, Saundersfoot, Freshwater East and Manorbier, with just a brief stop at each location to take in the views.
But in the end we never got further than Saundersfoot, having been absolutely charmed by the magic of this lovely little seaside town.
The beach and seafront were pretty much in line with my vague childhood recollections of endless sand and shallow seas fronted by quaint little shops and eateries, and with the warm sun playing over us we just didn't want to be anywhere else.
We took a long stroll along the beach and coastal path before coming back for a coffee and picnic on the harbour wall, then on into town for a look round the numerous art and photography galleries that seem to be the town's main industry.
Of course I toted my camera and tripod with me on these excursions, and used the high vantage point of the harbour wall to capture this panoramic view back over the beach and town.
Hopefully I won't have to wait another fifty years before visiting again!
