Beaches are great places, and I love strolling up and down just looking around me at the beauty of these wonderfully dynamic and changing lanscapes.
Of course, the sweeping vistas of the grand landscape, taking in all that the land, sea and sky have to offer, are very tempting photographically speaking, and of course I take full advantage when the light is right for that kind of image.
However, I also love to expore the mini-landscapes formed in the inter tidal zone, where pebbles and marine life of all kinds are strewn about in seemingly random patterns by the action of tides and waves.
These mini-landscapes are an artist's playground, where patterns, details and colours can be worked into very pleasing compositions.
However, it's far too easy to try and fit a lot of stuff into such an image, and I have to be careful to leave out whatever doesn't add to the meaning of the final image.
I really enjoy looking at these three beach detail photos for the blend of colours, patterns and textures that they contain. I hope you do too.
