Whitesands Bay, right on the westernmost tip of the Pembrokeshire National Park, is a stunningly beautiful spot.
With pristine sand, flanked by rocky headlands, it's a surfing hotspot, catching big waves coming directly onto the beach from the Irish Sea to the west.
But getting wet and cold isn't for me (well maybe not in late Autumn when Liz and I visited Pembrokeshire!).
I'd much rather wrap up warm and go for an exploratory walk with my wife along the shoreline, enjoying being by the sea and looking for lovely scenes to photograph.
The timing of our visit here was perfect, with a receding tide having washed all evidence of human presence from the gently sloping sand while leaving behind a gleaming sheen of wetness reflecting the clouds and sky above.
This was one of those occasions where it paid to get low with my camera, allowing me to fill the bottom of my viewfinder with the beautiful colours and patterns in the gleaming sand, while capturing the towering reflection of a cumulus cloud in the upper third of the composition.
Just a lovely, lovely little mini-landscape, and a bit out of the ordinary.
