4.45am on Easter Monday morning and the full moon is setting over the Vale of Clwyd as the last vestiges of the fog bank from the night before drain slowly back northwards towards the coast.
From my vantage point on the slopes of Moel Famau I can see the streetlights of Ruthin lighting the mist tendrils orange against the deep blue pre-dawn sky, as far in the distance the mountains of Snowdonia punctuate the horizon.
As the sky lightens further the dawn chorus starts up, and for a couple more hours birdsong is all I can hear until the noise of a waking Ruthin filters up to me from the valley below.
This is a wonderful time to be out. A time for contemplation. A time for prayer. And, of course, an attempt to capture some of the beauty and peace in the form of a photograph.
