The drive south from Estes Park along the I-7 takes you through some stunning Colorado scenery.
Liz and I made several excursions along that highway during our two week stay in late September exploring the Rocky Mountains, just for the sheer pleasure of looking at the views.
To the west of the road lie the high peaks of the Rocky Mountain National Park, with Longs Peak and Mount Meeker, pictured here, being the most prominent.
It was a beautiful time of the year, with the aspens displaying all their golden autumn colours set against the deep blue sky, fresh and clean at around 9,000 feet above sea level.
A convenient pull in by the side of the highway gave me the opportunity to stop and take this photo of Mount Meeker before we carried on our way, entranced by the beauty all around us.
