One of the many things I loved doing during Liz's and my two week holiday in Estes Park, Colorado, was driving along the roads in the Rocky Mountain National Park.
There aren't many roads in the park, but what is lacking in quantity is more than made up for in quality.
I reckon the twenty dollars we paid for a seven day vehicle pass was the best enjoyment factor per dollar that I've ever known.
This image was taken from a pull in at the side of the Bear Lake Road as it winds its way south through spectacular scenery, to arrive at the Bear Lake trailhead.
I made a point of including the road itself in this photo, as roads can be such evocative and emotional elements in a picture.
A visual metaphor, if you like, of freedom and the joy of finding out what's around the next bend.
In fact, just looking at this image takes me back there as I sit writing this on a dreary November morning in North Wales.
