High up in the Rocky Mountain National Park, on the trail between Bear Lake and Bierstadt Lake, my wife Liz and I paused for breath and to take in this stunning view of the mountains, framed in the glorious colours of aspens in the fall.
We were enjoying a two week holiday in Colorado, exploring the park and being blown away by the beautiful scenery all around us, especially the fall colours in late September.
This stand of trees was close by the side of the trail, requiring only a little scramble over the tumbled boulders to see this view.
Use of a polarising filter helped to enhance the vivid oranges and yellows of the leaves, and to darken the blue of the sky for an eye catching colour contrast.
