When my wife Liz and I were planning our holiday to the United States one of her 'must see' criteria was fall colours.
High on my list of priorities were mountains and lakes, so the Rocky Mountain National Park at the end of September was the obvious place to go.
Neither of us were disappointed, and most of the time we got to see mountains, lakes and the glorious autumn colours of aspens and cottonwood trees all at the same time.
One of our favourite locations for looking at and photographing the colours was Bear Lake and its surrounding trails, and we re-visited this area multiple times during our two week stay.
This particular patch of trees showed a lovely combination of yellows and golds, set nicely against the heavy grey clouds above and dark water beneath.
