There are some jewels of lakes in the Snowdonia National Park, and Llyn Geirionydd is one of them.
My wife Liz and I spent a lovely afternoon recently, walking around the lake as far as we could while enjoying a rare sunny day in North Wales.
The weather was great for hiking, but less than optimal for photography, with the bright sun giving a huge contrast range between highlight and shadow areas in any scene I cared to frame up.
In the end I used a five exposure HDR process to capture this scene and then render it so that you can see in this photo what I could actually see in front of me.
Well sort of - a photo is never going to be a completely accurate rendition of what the eye sees, but at least with these new digitial techniques at our disposal we can get a lot closer than we ever could with film.
Hooray for digital!
