Reykavik, the capital of Iceland, is a very monochrome city, with grey or black architecture that matches the weather and the surrounding landscape.
So my eye was drawn, like a starving man to a burger, to any patch of colour available.
Fortunately for me, the subversive Icelanders must have also felt the same about the lack of colour, with some lovely examples of many hued graffiti, clothing, and street art on display.
Coming out of the lovely Cafe Babalu, having had a warming coffee with my wife Liz, I was confronted by this vivid, red painted wall made of corrugated steel, onto which had been mounted a series of large printed photographs by a local artist.
This one of a cat jumping through a window made me smile, as it was so in keeping with the slightly wacky Icelandic spirit, and really stood out against the red wall, which formed a sort of frame around the picture.
