I'm not a big fan of browsing around in shops - even camera shops don't do it for me.
So when my wife Liz, who's an avid knitter, spotted a shop selling Icelandic wool and patterns while walking around Reykjavik I knew I would have fifteen minutes or so of waiting time outside in the street.
Not that I minded in the least, as it gave me a chance to have a good look around and get in the photographic zone, where you start to see things around you that fire your artistic imagination.
The pavement wasn't the first place I thought of looking for inspiration, but those subversive Icelanders had been at it with the paints, turning this cast iron grid and its surrounding facing blocks into a kaleidoscope of colour.
A most welcome treat for the eye, set in a sea of grey that local street artists were doing their best to alleviate - thank goodness!
